Softshell
Softshell is a functional fabric that is to a certain extent water-resistant, windproof, and at the same time soft, gentle, and breathable.
Types of softshell:
- Spring: medium-weight, with a polyester or cotton inner layer
- Summer: lightweight, often without an inner layer
- Winter: thicker, fleece-lined
Advantages of softshell:
- A durable yet easy-to-work-with material
- Slight stretch – finished products hold their shape well and don't stretch out
- Suitable for home sewing of jackets, coats, vests, pants, gloves, gaiters, bags, or backpacks
- Can be sewn with standard home sewing machines
Waterproofing tip: For 100% waterproofing, it is necessary to seal the seams with special tape.
What to look for when buying:
- Water resistance
- Breathability
