Scissors were not originally used for cutting paper or fabrics, but rather for cutting hair and trimming nails? The oldest surviving scissors come from ancient Egypt around 1500 BC and consisted of two bronze blades connected by a spring. It was not until much later that scissors began to be used for other purposes, such as cutting textiles and eventually paper.
